Word of the day

English is pressumably the lingua franca of the modern times, or at least hoping to become that.
But every now and then people use words that not even native speakers understand. Maybe another way to make us learn new, fancy words. I got an email speaking about a curmudgeon. Stop. Go to dictionary. Search.
"An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions", "crusty irascible cantankerous old person full of stubborn ideas", "a bad-tempered, difficult, cantankerous person", churlish, gruffy, disagreeable, ill-mannered ... and so on.
Bloody hell. Why can you not say bitter, grumpy, cranky? These are so easily understood. ooops there is also "cranky curmudgeon". Holly cow, that is wild. It's the mother and father of all grumpy old men. hmmm, I know some people that would fit the profile.
So, note this in your agenda for further referrence: curmudgeon.
English is so easy now.
